Chicago art punks Lovely Little Girls come to Richmond for the first time ever! Fusing jazz, performance art, and freak punk, Lovely Little Girls put on a spectacularly grotesque and entertaining performance. They're touring to introduce their most recent release, called Effusive Supreme. The album fluctuates from dancey beats, vocal harmonies and catchy horn melodies to moments of pure dissonance and chaos, to more light-hearted moments like "Be Good To Your Shoes". Gregory Jacobsen delivers wild, almost operatic at times, vocals dripping with sexual innuendos with a twist of horror. Speaking of Gregory Jacobsen, it's hard to talk about this band without mentioning their spectacular visual elements; all of the artwork is designed by their lead singer, who is an avant garde painter as well as killer performer. Check out their music videos for Effusive Supreme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbTD_9dl0cQ) and Massive Vulva (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuXnVdtlEsw).They are joined by the legendary no-wave trio VV, noisey freak punk trio Headscratcher, and Three-Brained Robot, a performance artist who blends surrealist comedy with puppets, dance and skits.
Headscratcher is a noise/freak punk trio featuring Katie S (she/her) (Fracking), Madi T (she/they)(Dysphonia), and Claire L (they/them). Their sound is inspired by bands like L7, Void, Les Rallizes Denudes and more, drawing from an eclectic pool of influences from hardcore punk to harsh noise and experimental performance art. Their 2nd show was back in October opening for Child Abuse, and they've also played several benefit shows supported causes like RRFP and the RVA Bail Fund.
