SHORMEY
IG: https://www.instagram.com/shormey_/
Shormey is the recording project of Virginia native Shormey Adumuah.
She frequently draws inspiration from the sonic influences of 70’s disco, soul, and psychedelic music. It’s all exemplified in The Boogie Tape Vol. 1.
Staying true to the relaxed and carefree vibes of the tape, Shormey recorded the entire project within the confines of her bedroom. This tape is a testament to her desire to create music that doesn’t put any pressure on the listener to feel any one particular feeling, but to just enjoy it as an upbeat experience.
DHEMO
Dhemo (pronounced “demo”) is a Richmond VA based artist who’s sound drifts between dream-like indie ballads to upbeat funk influenced bops. It’s an indie rock project that expands seamlessly through jazz and psychedelic sounds. Overtop a tightly dynamic live band, the music connects with listeners through both emotional vocal melodies and vulnerable lyricism.
TE’JANI
Te'Jani is a staple of the Charlotte music scene. With guitar being his first love, he describes his music as being for “black kids who loved Guitar Hero 3,” a lived truth for him as the game inspired him to buy his own electric guitar at 11 years old. Indeed, his recorded repertoire reflects the intersection of pop, R&B, and punk rock sensibilities.
Leveraging his multi-hyphenate creative skillset, Te’Jani has established himself in Charlotte in the recording studio, working on projects for Queen City stalwarts like Mavi, Nia J, Cyanca, Erick Lottary, and Elevator Jay. Moving from behind the scenes to the stage, Te'Jani is now evolving into a solo artist with his guitar and vocals now being backed by bass and drums. His two albums—GIMP (2022) and ON PROZAC (2023)—showcase the songwriter’s poignant lyricism as he explores the melancholy of lost relationships over his own instrumentation.

NIA J
Nia J, one of the rising voices of the Charlotte music scene, embodies a classic sensibility in her take on modern pop. Her vocal performances cut the deadpan witticisms of contemporary pop coquettes with the grandeur of the 70s and 80s divas. The result is a mix that feels simultaneously old and new, as ready for TikTok as for the theater.
