Gallery5 Community Care Night: Behind the Altars Festival
Barrett Holmes Pitner will discuss his work, The Crime Without a Name: Ethnocide and the Erasure of Culture in America, and meet-and-greet in anticipation of The Altars Festival at Art Works on November 3.
The Altars Festival is a celebration of cross-cultural ancestor remembrance and an art exhibition, and is part of the Altar America Project. Their mission is to alter America for the better by bringing communities together through art, culture, and history.
Through the work of the artists creating altars, the speakers, and the musicians, the goal of the festival is for the community to become inspired to engage in their own culturally relevant acts of remembrance.
This event is FREE and open to the public with sliding scale donation of $5-20 suggested. Happy Hour 6-7PM. Event 7PM-9PM.
