Mother India - Artist Talk with Ruchi Gupta

Ceramic artist Ruchi Gupta’s vessels carry poems and light, merging joy and reflection with form and function. Her work explores the fluidity that comes by being in the moment, in a state of flow. The drawings, brushwork or carving all start with a dot and grow on their own. Each piece is layered, unique, and are fired minimum of three times. Ruchi was born and raised in India, and after completing her engineering and MBA degrees, she worked in corporate IT for a decade. For the past nine years she has been working as a full-time ceramic artist in her home studio in Richmond, Va.
