Another Look At America: Immigrants
First Friday July 1
For July's art opening we are thrilled to partner with Bio Ritmo and The Valentine to celebrate a vital part of America's story in our main gallery space, immigrants!
The Valentine will be displaying historical images and Gallery5 will have artwork from the region's immigrant artists.
Our Art Lounge will also be filled with the artwork of Alisa Hart, a Nottoway Indian Tribe member and brilliant artist!
The art in our gallery spaces will be open at 5pm on Friday July 1st along with a happy hour at our bar.
The start of July is often associated with hot dogs and fireworks as a way to celebrate our nation. This July we'll be celebrating another vital aspect of our nation, immigrants. Immigrants have had a huge role in shaping not only the nation, but also the cultural dialogue and discourse that happens at our parks, schools, places of worship, and other public settings. Gallery5 is proud to work with our Richmond arts community to highlight some of our immigrant artists that have helped make Richmond's art scene as wonderful as it is.
From July 1st to July 30th we'll be displaying the works of immigrant artists from the Richmond region. The Valentine will also share historic photos of Richmond's immigrant history. For the opening night we'll also have salsa band Bio Ritmo on stage to help celebrate the occasion. Our Art Lounge gallery will also feature works by Alis Hart, a Nottoway Indian Tribe member and local artist.
