The Parallel Listening Series combines literature, music, sound, and performance art into a live, free public event at Gallery5. This event creates a dynamic space for artists and audience members, developing an intentional environment where deep listening promotes reflection and inspiration. The performance pairs creative writers with musicians, blending a literary reading with an improvised score. Because art practices can often be siloed, the Parallel Listening Series seeks to explore the interconnectedness of language and sound, art and community.

“Every day under fascism it’s easier to control people who feel alone. And so connecting through art across mediums and across communities to me is a political act,” he says. “Joy as an act of resistance.”
