Sam will talk a bit about his work, and then walk everyone through the process for submitting a FOIA request. You should come ready to send one! Pick a topic that interests you, and he'll go through the process of how to request and obtain relevant documents, challenge a noncompliant response, and handle other possible obstacles.
Samuel B. Parker covers city politics and investigations for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. A graduate of Regent University, Parker specializes in FOIA and the use of public records to shed light on the inner workings of City Hall.
