This February, Gallery5 presents “The Art of Us” as part of Richmond’s First Fridays Art Walk on Fri., March 6th from 6 - 11PM.

We do not arrive fully formed; we become through one another. The Art of Us is a collective exploration of what it means to be a part of, to come together, to be seen, and to be shaped by one another. This exhibition hopes to bring together diverse artists, voices, and experiences to reveal the ways in which our individual pieces form something larger, together.
Rooted in Taoist ideas + TAOU, this show, “The Art of Us” honors duality as balance rather than division. The seen and unseen, light and dark, harmony and disruption, tradition and change into conversation. Nothing exists alone, everything can be defined by the relation and presence of the other. The oppositions, diversity, and experiences shape us. They ask us to consider who we become through contrast, and what is lost when one side is erased.
The Art of Us is a collective exploration of what it means to belong, to be seen, shaped by others, and to create something together. This exhibition brings together diverse artists, voices, and experiences to reveal the ways our individual pieces and selves form something larger than ourselves.
